Woman holding head - how to manage stress - stress management centre

There are various techniques for coping and managing stress and anxiety. Stress is not just a simple matter of managing time and organising it better. If it were that simple and straightforward, you would have done that already and be enjoying a chilled out life.

For most of us, stress – and anxiety – is usually far more complex. Various elements come into play: pressures at work; fear of redundancy, failure, unemployment; the relentless and usually thankless task of caring for children or elderly parents; relationship difficulties; financial worries and so on.

Of course,  a little stress is good for the mind and the body. It keeps us alert …. but only if we get adequate amounts of rest and recuperation to balance it all out.

Where there are persistent pressures and worries to deal with every day, with little or no respite – and over long periods of time – that’s when symptoms of stress eventually take hold.

Typical symptoms of stress can include: anxiety and panic attacks, muscular tension, feeling irritable and impatient, intolerance of others, inability to relax, difficulty in sleeping, feeling overwhelmed, difficulty in concentration, poor memory, exhaustion, increased smoking, drinking and binge eating, as well as health problems such as headaches, migraines, eye strain, high blood pressure, irritable bowel syndrome and palpitations. The list could go on and on.

So what’s to be done?

Some things may be difficult or impossible to change – like the state of the economy. But changing the way that you view stress – and how you manage it – is possible.

Here at the Stress Management Centre, we specialise in a number of therapeutic approaches that can help you to overcome the negative effects of stress, anxiety and associated condition. All designed to make you feel better and function more effectively.  These are listed on our Home Page but are given again below.
